Power Transformer Need Various Efficiency And Safety Tests

Oct 27 | INDUSTRY NEWS, NEWS

Power transformer is one of the main equipment in power plants and substations. The role of the transformer is multi-faceted. It can not only increase the voltage and send electric energy to the power consumption area, but also reduce the voltage to various application voltages to meet the needs of electricity consumption. In short, both voltage transformation and voltage reduction must be completed by transformers. In the process of transmitting electric energy in the power supply system, voltage and power losses will inevitably occur. When transporting the same power, the voltage loss is inversely proportional to the voltage, and the power loss is inversely proportional to the square of the voltage. Transformers are used to increase voltage and reduce power transmission losses.

In the process of transmission, transformation and distribution of power systems, transformers are an important electrical equipment. Whether it is industrial enterprises, shopping malls, office buildings, or residential areas, transformers can be seen everywhere. Transformers play an extremely important role in the power industry.

Therefore,as to ensure the normal function of power transformer, there are several tests which must be performed on power transformers, only in this way can the incidence rate can be reduced, and it is not related to effectiveness, but also related to safety.

Push is a specialized turn ratio tester supplier from China, and today we would like to talk about the turn ratio test.

Four main tests performed on power transformers

1. Turns ratio test

The transformer turns ratio test is used to determine the number of turns in one winding of the transformer in relation to the number of turns in the other windings of the transformer that are in phase. Turns ratio testing is typically used to determine the winding ratio between the primary and secondary coils of a transformer and ensure they meet recommended specifications. Use a Turn ratio tester to make sure the transformer is capable of delivering the proper step-up or step-down voltage.

2. Power factor test

Power factor testing is used to measure the power angle of the power current produced when AC voltage is applied to identify power losses in the transformer insulation system. For best results, the angle of the current must be 90 degrees.

3. Insulation resistance test

Insulation resistance testing or megger testing is used to measure the quality of insulation inside power transformers.

4. Resistance test

Resistance testing is performed several hours after the power transformer reaches the same temperature as its environment and stops conducting current.

Main forms of Turn ratio tester

PS-BB101A Three-Phase Transformation Turn Ratio Tester

The ttr tester can measure the transformation ratio and wiring group of various three-phase transformers, and can also measure the changes and polarity of single-phase transformers and voltage transformers. The ttr tester can also display the transformation ratio error and has an automatic printing function.Single-phase power input, internal digital synthesis of three-phase standard sine wave signal source, through high-fidelity power amplifier, generates three-phase test power output (distortion less than 0.1%, symmetry better than 0.05%), the test results have better Effectiveness, there will be no misjudgment of groups and other phenomena.

Using a transformation ratio bridge to measure the transformation ratio of a transformer has a cumbersome operation process and a narrow measurement range, which is no longer suitable for the fast pace and high efficiency requirements of modern measurement. Fully automatic variable ttr tester, small size, light weight, high precision and good stability. It uses a large-screen LCD Chinese character display, menu operation, and a friendly interface. The variable ratio group can be measured in one go.

Hand Held Portable Ratio Transformer TTR Turns Ratio meter is also popular in recent years.Turn ratio meter is equally efficient and accurate, yet portable: small and lightweight.
